The sun is shining, birds are singing and everything seems just great – it’s the perfect day for the beach, to go for a swim or have a picnic with the family. It is also the perfect opportunity for you to take extra care of your skin. Having healthy skin is important. Here are a few skin care tips:
Taking care of your skin should be part of your daily routine no matter what the season. However, during the summer months, protecting your skin from the harsh rays of the sun should be your #1 priority!
Clean up your act
Whether or not you wear makeup, cleaning your face should become as important as brushing your teeth – every morning and every night. Don’t think that ordinary soap will do. You should use a mild cleanser that is fragrance and chemical free. Fragrances and chemicals only contribute to skin irritations and clogged pores.
Go for a trusted brand of cleansers with a good reputation. Don’t go for the “cheap stuff,” as you will only be “cutting off your nose to spite your face “– literally!
Hype up on hydration
During the summer months, keeping your skin hydrated is vital in order to avoid any unnecessary, unattractive dryness. Hydrate your skin by making sure you are drinking enough water, and also use a good moisturizer.
Splurge on the sunscreen
Never, ever, leave the house without making sure that your face is well protected with adequate sunscreen. It doesn’t matter if you’re going to be in your car all day; the rays of the sun are extremely powerful and can penetrate right through your windshield. And if you’re deliberately going out into the sun for a picnic or to hang out at the beach, make sure your smear sunscreen all over your body every two hours.

Voluntary benefits allow employees to purchase additional insurance products outside of their health plan through their company at rates that are lower than if they bought them on their own. Premiums are paid from pre-tax dollars and deducted from the employee’s pay check, making payment simple and convenient. Many employers offer these voluntary benefits because they allow companies to provide a strong benefit package at no cost to them.
A few examples of voluntary benefits are dental, vision, life, disability, and supplemental health and cancer insurance. These benefits come in many varieties that help protect the employee’s financial and physical well being. Did you know that annual dental and vision exams do more than protect your teeth and eyes? They can help detect health problems such as diabetes and heart disease. By enrolling in voluntary benefits, the employee is rewarded with greater peace of mind.
Offering voluntary benefits to employees provides a great incentive for people to stay with their company. Employees receive more benefits by their employer allowing them to protect their health, savings, and everything they’ve worked so hard to achieve. As an added bonus, offering voluntary benefits provides the opportunity to lower the employer payroll taxes with each enrolled employee. Everybody wins when voluntary benefits are a part of a company’s employee benefit package.

Did you know that cutting calories causes your level of serotonin (a feel-good brain chemical) to plummet downwards? A calorie diet is not always the best approach. Without enough serotonin you start to become irritable and unpleasant to be around. This would explain why your friends probably vanish when you announce you are starting a new diet! In order to keep your serotonin levels up then you need to figure out how many calories your body needs to take in based on your daily activities. It’s also important to make sure that any calorie diet is split evenly between proteins, whole grains, and produces. Unbalanced meals made entirely of refined carbs cause your blood-sugar levels to fluctuate turning you into Oscar the Grouch. Research has shown that adding omega-3 fatty acids to your diet helps fight off signs of depression and also slows down your digestion process leaving you fuller longer. You can do this by adding salmon, a tablespoon of olive oil, canola oil or flaxseeds into your daily meals just a few times a week. So be happy, lose weight & keep your friends!
